I had long known that half-price books will buy books. that's how they operate their business. they sell your used books for more money than they pay you for them. like a vintage clothing store for books. what I didn't know is just how little they give you for your books. I was offered a QUARTER for a stack about five feet high, which were mostly non-fiction books about religion, but also one about africa. they only books they cared about were some by c.s. lewis; I guess he's enjoying renewed popularity now due to the film THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. my grand total for a box of books containing a few by c.s. lewis on christianity: $4.50. I said that I'd rather burn the books than sell them for $4.50. time to burn some books about religion.
